Federal Grant Writers Share Your Experience

Hi everyone,

With all of the Federal Education Grant Programs out there, I am regularly asked by contacts at school districts, associations, and with companies to recommend grant writers.

If you are an experienced and successful grant writer, please introduce yourself here and share what you've accomplished. I'll point people looking for referrals to this forum.

Hello,

I am Kelly Werthmuller from St. Louis Missouri. I have been writing grants for almost two years. I have not written a federal grant yet, but I have written many foundation grants. I have earned over $31,000 for my school, mainly for the library. I have been awarded over 12 different grants. I have also established a 501(c)3 public charity. If you need an extra hand with any of this, just let me know.

Thanks,
-kelly-

I've been doing grant writing as an independent consultant since 2004. I have experience both as a federal grant writer and as a federal funder. I used to give grants through the Commission on National and Community Service (which is now the Corporation for National and Community Service or AmeriCorps). My federal grant writing experience is largely with the EPA and HUD, and I teach classes in Los Angeles on writing government grant proposals. I also write California state grants -- mostly for mental health.

I'm Jan Mitchell Johnson, and I'm a federal and state grant writer with over 14 years of experience winning grants for public and charter schools. I've won more than $90 million in the past 8 1/2 years alone, including two of the 49 Investing in Innovation (i3) grants out of 1,698 applications.

I hold two degrees in Education (B. S. and M.Ed.) and worked in the biggest district in Texas for 14 years before starting my own grant writing, consulting, and coaching firm in 2003. I speak the language of public ed and know what you're up against. Let my team take the struggle out of grant writing for you!
