Free Single-sign On Technology - myCampus K-12 Community Edition

Demands by increasingly sophisticated users among students and teachers, a need for cutting edge tools to support teaching an d learning, and pressures to provide cost and efficiency savings through automation and online self-service have resulted in a massive increase in the number of online services which an average user may have access to.

As these services have boomed, so have demands to manage authentication and security multiplied. Reduced/Single-sign On (SSO) systems have emerged as a key requirement in the modern distributed computing environment. These systems exist to address a number of key institutional pain points:

  • Convenience  for users looking to access multiple systems
  • Integration inn workflows/user experience when spanning multiple systems
  • Costs of user-support lo ad related to password, username, and credentials
  • Security of  services located both on and off-site

To support these needs, CampusEAI Consortium, a global not-for-profit information technology services and consulting provider, has engineered a comprehensive security and SSO platform into the Single Sign-On portal, built on best-of breed open-source and community developed technologies, and targeted at easing integration with systems common in K12-Education.

Just recently I've been notified that we're going to be able to offer our myCampus K-12 Community Edition at no cost with some a-la-carte options.

With this the most integral features of starting a single-sign-on project would be free of charge. This is what all of our current members at one point were awarded via the grant and that we're now able to offer to get your students the same technology.

Key features of the myCampus Community Edition include:

• myCampus QuickLaunch
• Incorporation of institutional logos and branding
• Directory integration to one directory server
• The ability to self-add single sign-on applications
• A block amount of CampusEAI support service hours
• Built in single sign-on integration to three enterprise applications, including Enterprise Resource Planning, Email and Learning Management Systems. (these are just the most popular choices - you can pick your own)

Additional features and options are available for myCampus Community Edition users through A-La Carte purchasing.

For the full grid of features you can go to the page directly:

The CampusEAI Consortium will review applications from educational institutions with established credentials as institutions of K-12 education under United States, Canadian Law.

I hope this helps. If you'd rather talk to me personally - I'm the grants coordinator for all of our K-12 membership.
