I have been working with my kids school on trying to find grants for the needs of our school. I am looking for grants for a private nonprofit K-12 Christian school in Texas. Our needs are: library materials, Technology (smart boards, mobile labs, updating software etc....), Fine arts (music instruments, sound system, risers, stage etc....) and art supplies for art department, capital for expansion of a school parking lot. I am currently seeking out foundations in our area by LOR for these needs but have not had much success. If anyone has any leads for this type of funding please advise. Thank you!
Karen,
I don't know exactly what your definition is of mobile labs, but I might be able to help you in part on the Technology end of things. Although we do not provide smart boards, my group does provide software maintenance with the grants we provide that range from $250,000 - $1,000,000.
We provide more of an intranet or an online community - a mobile centralization of all of the school's current systems among other services and solutions. Is this what your school is looking for? It's very much like facebook only for education so your child can access his or her materials from school or home with a single login. As a parent, it could also allow you to stay alerted of everything going on in your child's education electronically - with emergency alerts available to your mobile device if necessary (for example - if there were an early dismissal for some reason)
We have our applications going on right now with the deadline set for September 3rd, and I could set up a meeting with your technical staff if this sounds like something that could meet the needs of your school.
One of our current members is Texas State Technical College - so I understand some of the funding issues your school may be facing. I know they act as a provider for many of the K-12 schools in the area.
If you think I can help please e-mail me directly at sera_nelson@campuseai.org.
Private school grants are really difficult to comeby. I'm also looking for a grant for my son's school in technology. The school has lost funding for their robotics team for this year. Putting together robots, and traveling to different schools for competition is costly. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.
Hi,
I'm also seeking funding to start a school garden for our small Title I Jewish school in New York. I have looked at and applied for many gardening grants and have not had any success as of yet. Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Sara
It seems that there are several people with the same challenge: finding funding for private schools. You might consider starting a group here on My Grant Wrangler to share ideas.
