I hope to get first hand timely info about grant opportunities that I may miss otherwise due to poor communications.
Hi! I write grants for my school library and am interested in finding our what is out there, and in improving my grant writing skills. Many teachers ask me for help finding and writing grants, I'd like to be better able to help them! Becoming more successful at this could possibly even open another career for me.
As a life-long learner, I have used the spiraling technique based on Vygotsky's theories to make connections in my education, teaching career and life.

Since I began teaching in 1975, I have learned, taught and experienced a multitude of theories, trends and issues as they appear, disappear and reappear.

I have enjoyed teaching many grade and subject levels from Kindergarten to college level students. My areas of expertise began with Microbiology, then elementary, then high school and later, special education K-12. My resume' is quite extensive, yet I have had the privilege to learn, grow, and work with many teachers, parents and other community members who were even more insightful, knowledgeable and collaborative. My career has taken me from the forested region across Lake Ponchetrain in Louisiana to the desert plains of the Llano Estacado in Southeastern New Mexico to continue here in Kansas.

I always try to remember that I am part of a TEAM of people, including students, parents, teachers, and the larger community of learners. It is my belief that you will be a better teacher when you work in a collaborative, not competitive environment where people's self esteem comes from providing for students, not gathering accolades for all the "stuff" you belong to or control. When you and your community are really teaching and learning, the accolades will follow.

I enjoy working to develop grants or opportunities that will encourage this team effort in my practice.
I am math teacher, HTM (High Tech Militia) Computer Club Advisor, Technology Coordinator, Green Coordinator and Green Advisor at my high school - I am very interested in STEM programs as they relate to our newly-formed Information Technology Academy, as well as how to further green my school's processes, materials, and ideas. I have been writing grants for the past 3 years for projects and programs related to these areas, but most have been $10K or less that require little to no follow-up paperwork; I want to go after bigger fish that require metrics to show the success of the programs put in place.
Hi, I am a parent and PTA president and also helping with grant writing for our school. I am hoping to learn some improved skills and tips for writing grants.
I work for local government as the educational outreach coordinator so I work very closely with the local schools. I am a parent, PTA VP, involved with Cub/Boy/Girls Scouts, and work closely with the local Boys & Girls Club. I am hoping to get some great assistance in grant writing, I am new to grant writing and very much am looking forward to diving in and assisting my local schools in receiving some great grant money. I am sure there are lots of you that have some great advice for newbies and I will be reading it all. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for coming forth to introduce yourselves. My Grant Wrangler is growing and attracting more members everyday, and all of you are starting to make this place feel like a community :)

Anne, you're definitely in the right place to receive current information on grants opportunities. Our forums, Resources for Health/PE Equipment and Curricular Materials, Grants for Performing and Fine Arts Teachers, Your School Library Wishlist, and Gardening Grants for Your Classroom may be of particular interest to you. If none of these grants fit your classroom, why not start a forum on a grant that does?

Edi, welcome to our forums. Grant writers are in high demand - especially now. You might want to check out a couple of our forums - Need a Grant Writer? or Grant Writing Tips. You may also want to join a couple of our groups, K-12 Grant Writers and Librarians and Media Specialists, which can help you connect with librarians searching for grants.

Welcome Samccoy! Thank you for introducing yourself. I hope you find the type of grant you're looking for. Feel free to use this site as a resource and browse our forums to stay abreast of latest developments.

Hello Clint, and welcome to My Grant Wrangler. You mentioned applying for larger grants, and I was wondering if you have ever considered applying for government grants?

Hi Annette and TL! I'm glad to hear from parents on our site, and it's great that you are so involved with your local schools. As I mentioned to Edi, you might want to check our forums - Need a Grant Writer? or Grant Writing Tips. If you have any questions, you might want to consider posting in those areas. You may also want to join the group, K-12 Grant Writers.

Welcome Heather. Thank you for introducing yourself. After reading your post, I thought immediately that you might get some use out of our Grants for Performing and Fine Arts Teachers forum. You can read what's there, post your questions, or just share your school's background with us.

Hi AEP Books and Media, and welcome. Does your company offer any grants or free teacher resources?
Hello to everyone! This is a great group to have and many thanks to Ms. Brewton for getting it started. I am a former teacher turned nonprofit grant writer and development consultant four years ago. Many of my clients are schools and nonprofits with an education focus. Grant Wrangler is an excellent source for funding opportunities, and now, other like-minded people. Best of luck to all.
Hi Laura! Thanks for introducing yourself and for contributing your kind words. With your experiences as both teacher and grant writer, I bet you have a lot of insight that will be useful to several of our members. Please feel free to check out our forums and groups (or start another, if you like). We want My Grant Wrangler to be a useful resource for you, so please make yourself at home. Welcome!
Hello! I am the development coordinator for an inner ring K-12 school district. I develop projects with central administrators and teachers and then write, coach and/or edit grants that range from $1,000 classroom projects to $6 million Safe Schools/Heatlhy Students-type federal proposals. I think networking sites like this are fantastic! I enjoy reading what others are experiencing in the field, and sharing, as well as having the opportunity to ask questions of those who might have leads when I'm looking for funding or advice with a certain application or funder. I also REALLY enjoy Grant Wrangler and I'm so grateful for the information. This network is a wonderful extension of the work. Thank you!
Hi Sue!

Welcome to our community, and thank you for the kind words about Grant Wrangler. It's interesting that you are the development coordinator for your school district. I'd love to know the kinds of projects you have developed.

It sounds like you have quite a bit of experience as a grant seeker and applicant and probably know a lot about the grant application process. Anything you'd like to change about it? It's great that you have come forth and introduced yourself. I hope you find the site useful. Please feel free to visit our forums, groups, and blog. And please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.
