My Grant Wrangler

I am a 6-7th grade math teacher in NYC. I absolutely love the Pulse Smartpen I have been using it for almost a year now. I have used it to make tutorials for my students because it gives them 24/7 access to the tutorials on my website. I also use it to keep anecdotal records on students because of its search feature; I use it in all my meetings, staff & faculty, parents, professional developments, and conferences; and in my personal life. I absolutely love it.

I am interested in using a class set (30) for my students for the following reasons:
1.It would keep their notes for the entire year instead of the students losing them
2. They would be able to search through their notes for formulas and how to's
3. I would be able to review students work in real time to assess why they are making mistakes
4. It would greatly improve Mathematic instruction

I am looking to become a pilot program for Livescribe to attract mass usage in schools. I would greatly appreciate your help in acquiring a class set of pens, either through a grant or on a pilot study. I would fully document test scores for individuals before and after the usage of the Pulse Smartpen and demonstrate how it improved their math skills. I think through this quantitative proof many middle schools and high schools would purchase mass quantities of the Pulse Smartpen either for their teachers or for specific grade/subject levels.

Hi Brian,

Have you checked Grant Wrangler for technology or literacy grants? It seems like this would be an ideal fit for either. I'm a huge fan of the pulse pen too.

Hi Brian,

Have you tried applying for a grant through the New York State Mentor Teacher-Internship Program (MTIP)? I believe the program has funded a very similar project to the one you're proposing - but eligibility requires you either be in your first or second year of teaching.

You may also want to check out the following grants:

Teach@15 Award
DonorsChoose
7-12 Science and Math Grant

Good luck!
Contacted Livescribe directly, they gave me the pens!!!
