Erin:
I'm the lead Technologist at a rural K-8 school in Maine where every 7+8 grader has a state supplied MacBook, case and charger(about 250, including staff). We also have several carts (COWS-computers on wheels) and classroom sets. Are you looking for a one to one, a cart to be shared? I don't know of any benefactor who would provide the equipment, very hard to find, but I do have lots of information about how to manage the devices whether a one to one or a COW that's shared and could help with drafting the proposal.
They actually are looking for a one to one for teachers and not students. The goal is to do away with a desktop in the classroom for teachers and provide a laptop that they can take home to work on.
The website has stories of teachers winning technology grants too, and what grants.
