As a technology consortium, we not only reward the schools with the technology and empower them to use it. The grant becomes a total cost of ownership for the next 5 years that they are with the community and can continue beyond that. That's really what it is that you join is a community (like this one) of other teachers and administrators that can share best practices and continue to help the school district grow and develop this technology - sharing the lessons learned and developments along the way. As a non-profit, we are about focusing on what the students and teachers, parent and administrators need on all levels - elementary, middle and high school education to prepare them for the technology that students will be exposed to in higher education. With it being an open-source technology we have the flexibility to keep our focus broad until the needs and requirements are determined by the school. The school district can make this a wonderful asset in their district's educational technology roadmap - we're just here to help them make that dream a reality.
