I visited the PE for life site and feel that non-school programs can be great places for organized exercise programs, with community volunteers providing the time, talent and dollars to make them available.
If you browse the Program Locator at http://www.tutormentorconnection.org you'll see I maintain a list of organizations who offer volunteer-based tutoring/mentoring. I look at these programs as "stores" which need to offer a wide variety of age-appropriate products and services. Organizations with expertise in arts, technology, sports, health, tutoring, etc. are potential vendors, putting their products and services on the "shelf" in a tutor/mentor program. If you and others think that way, then you will have more ways to think about how you convince stores/youth organizations to include your services. As you do that the T/MC web sites and conferences are one way to connect with a lot of programs who might be interested in what you are offering.
Hi Phil. I'm located in Chicago and host a tutor/mentor conference in Chicago every May and November. This is part of the strategy of the Tutor/Mentor Connection. Since you are in the area I hope we can connect.
