Education blog enthusiasts and digital photographers recently had a chance to shine, thanks to the National Environmental Education Foundation's
Photo Blog Contest, which called for K-12 organizations to submit a blog entry describing the integration of environmental education in the classroom. The first place winner, the Curecanti National Recreation Area in Colorado, received a Canon PowerShot Digital Camera and SELPHY Photo Printer for their visually thought-provoking entry,
Geocaching Habitat Hike.
The contest inspired K-12 students and teachers to focus on environmental learning before Earth Day. Entries were not only judged on visual aesthetics, but also literary quality and creativity.
In second place, The Washington Service Learning Center in Wisconsin received a Canon Digital Camcorder for their entry,
Wonder-ful Water. And in third place, Central Elementary School in Michigan received a Canon PIXMA Photo Printer for
Red Cedar River.
Prizes were provided by Canon USA, Inc.
